Malankara
Central Council was established on 14th July, 1980 and instituted on
22nd March, 1982.
The Central Council covers the area from Chengannur to Parasala, the Southermost
part of Kerala.
St. Thomas, Chengannur; St. Stephens, Kattanam; St. Antony’s, Nalanchira
and St. Mary’s Palayam were four
conferences affiliated with Tiruvalla Central Council. In 1980, a new Central
Council was sanctioned for Trivandrum
Archdiocese with the name Trivandrum Malankara Central Council and Br. P. Babukutty
was nominated as
the first President. Under the Presidentship of Br. K.O. Thomas and Dr. P.V. George
the Central Council has been
grown to 256 conferences, becoming the largest Central Council out of the total
conferences, 173 were aggregated
and 163 were twinned with the Councils of England & Wales, Western Australia
and Scotland. In 1998, a new
Central Council, Marthandom was bifurcated form Trivandrum Malankara C.C. Now
there are 216 conferences
under 15 particular Councils.
In 1994, A.G.M was held in Trivandrum under the auspicious of Trivandrum Malankara C.C. Dr. P.V. George served as Project Monitoring Officer, Sr. Marykutty George as National Lady Representative during 1988-1993 and she participated in the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Twinnage of Council of England and Wales. Br. K.O. Thomas served as the Chairman of State Council of Kerala from 1996-98. On August 1997 he attended the beatification ceremony of Blessed Federic Ozanam in Paris and also visited the Council of England and Wales. Dr. P.V. George is a member of VINPAZ.
