Thamarassery
Central Council was established on March 1, 1987, by dividing the Central Council
of Tellicherry, due to the formation of Thamarassery Diocese. Thamarassery Central
Council is spread out in two revenue districts of Kerala State, i.e. Malappuram
and
Kozhikode-with 9 Particular Councils. The area of the Central Council is 5893
Sq. Kilo Metre. The main food crop of these two Districts
is Paddy. However, not producing enough rice for the consumption. The cash crops
cultivated in these districts are coconut, rubber, pepper, ginger, tapioca, etc.
Hence, majority of the Conference members are farmers. The catholic population
of the Thamarassery Diocese
will be about 150000. The Conferences functioning as on 31.3.2003 are 130 with
active members of 1115. The following are the other
