Punalur Central is working in Punalur Diocese, which was establishment and bifurcated form Quilon Diocese, on 1986. This Diocese is Mission diocese and working in a Mission Area. Our catholic population is about 35 thousands. In our diocese about 85% of the population is down-trodden converted from Hindu Harijans and Girijans. They are very poor in economically, educationally, socially and culturally.
Our Central Council is established on 26.10.1987 and Instituted on 09.06.1992. Now we have 96 Conferences and 6 Particular Councils.
94 Conferences were aggregated and twinned. Twinned Councils are Australia,
England & Wales, Netherlands and Scotland. Number of
active member is 410. The working of our C.C. is among the above-mentioned poor
people. It is very graceful to them and we are trying
to up-lift these poor people in various means especially through spiritually
and financially.
