 9. Brief History of the Central Council :- 

 

01.05.1973:  Tellicherry Diocese bifurcated and diocese of Manathavady

                       established. Bishop Jacob Thoonkuzhy.

 

09.06.1973:  SVP national Council meeting held at Bombay decides for 

                       expansion works. Palai Central Council entrusted to work

                       in the Diocese of Manathavady.
 
 01.07.1973: Palai C.C resolves to take up the charge of manathavady

                       as per direction from National Council Bro.Bennet D'souza

                       N.C.P Sept.1973:  Bishop of Manathavady issues circular

                       to parish priests asking for establishment of conferences -

                       Palai C.C supplies copies of Vincentian manual and sends    

                       circular to parish priests of Mananthavady.

 

 10-03.1974: Rev.Fr.George Kazhikkachahil first responds  and

                       establishes conferences at Batheri & Ambalavayal.

                       Thonichal,kottathara, Mananthavady Cathedral,        

                       Payyampilly too established in March 1974.

 

 13.01.1974: Extension Committee formed at Palai for Malabar

                       expansion work. First Visit of the team.

 27.02.1975: II Visit of Palai Team

 28.04.1976: III visit and seminar

 17.05.1977: IV visit and seminar

 23.04.1978: Inauguration of the C.C by Bisop Jacob Thoonkuzhy.
