9. Brief History of the Central Council:-
Our Society stepped into this Diocese in 1933, exactly 100 years after it was founded in Pairs. The first conference then known as the conference of charity was established in the cathedral Parish. Till 1969 this was the only conference in the whole Diocese.
The extension of the society began in 1970’s. There were four conferences in 1970, all in Tuticorin. They were placed under the circumscription of Tuticorin Particular council, established in 1970’s. Now there are Four particular Councils and 67 conferences in our C.C. In addition to the conferences in this Diocese those in near by Palayamkottai Diocese were also under its circumscription.
Two Prominent Deserve Special mention:-
Ozanam Computer Centre: is sponsored by Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Snows Conference, Tuticorin-inaugurated on 28.01.95 by our farmer National President Bro. G.Thangaraju . It started giving training to deserving needy students with two 386 model Computer and a Printer. It was expended in 1998 with two more higher configuration computers with assistance from Bro.Van Ruiten – Chairman, NODC, Netherlands and with local resources. It was further expanded with assistant from England and its functioning in the newly built conference building which was inaugurated and opened by our former N.C. President Bro.P.V. Alexander on 25.02.02, as a mark of Christhu Jeyanthi 2000.The aim of the center is to impart Computer Education to the poor boys and girls in and around our parishes in various Certificate Courses. Students are also trained for Government N.C.V.T. Course who appear for Govt. Examination in collaboration with other Private Institutes.
At present there are 35 students for N.C.V.T and various Certificate Courses who are provided with job opportunities by keeping in constant touch with local companies. Many students have been employed in various companies and Govt.Organisations thereby earning their livelihood. The Computer Centre proves itself to be a great Blessing to the poor boys and girls in the town.

ST. ANTONY’S CONFERENCE – AZHAGAPAPURAM
It was inaugurated by our Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Peter Fernando on May 2001. This clinic is functioning in a newly constructed building. The entire expenses for this project was completely met by conference with local assistance only. Nearly 35 patients are being treated daily without any consultation fees. One nurse and a Doctor are permanently appointed. A clinical Lab was pressed into service into service on 27.09.2001,in which blood, urine, motion test are being done.
